The Kalimpong/Pedong region, despite being situated in the lap of the beautiful Himalays, is blessed to be mildly placed. It is not situated at an altitude where tourists have difficulty in adjusting to the high altitude. Being situated at an altitude band of 3500 feet to 5500 feet, the Kalimpong/Pedong region offers the guest the opportunity to enjoy treks without the risk of exhaustion or any adverse health effects. It offers even average guests, who have had no previous experience of trekking, an opportunity to enjoy short and enjoyable walks in the country side. The treks are structured in such a way that even children or senior citizens could enjoy them without much difficulty.
Singtam River Valley Trek
The beautiful Singtam valley is located about 24 kms away from Pedong. The mighty river Reshi flows by its side. Hiking to Singtam is a breezy affair, with mesmerizing natural beauty surrounding you all the way! Get ready to be surprised with sudden visits by a muster of peacocks or being accompanied by other local feathery friends on your way.
At Singtam, you can explore outdoor activities like rock climbing, river crossing and angling. Facilities are also available for camping.
The hike down to the valley from Pedong can take one to two hour. Trekkers can opt for vehicles while returning, as Singtam is easily accessible from the Gangtok-Siliguri highway.
